Beit Elisha

Beit Elisha is home for 65 adults with developmental disabilities. The unique model of Beit Elisha sees people with developmental disabilities as whole human being capable of growth and change, and aims to enable members to lead a rich and rewarding life. As Beit Elisha is designed as a home for life, its employs a long-term perspective of rehabilitation, taking into account the prospects of old age or physical deterioration on one hand, and of growing independence and relationships on the other.

Our program includes vocational and professional training in a rich variety of rehabilitative workshops. Members work in weaving, paper processing, ceramics, and processing medicinal herbs. Others work in our organic farm, stables, kitchen or café. Special emphasis is given to the assignment of work according to the personal preferences, talents and abilities of each individual.

In addition to the workshops, Beit Elisha operates a rich program of therapeutic, cultural and social activities. These include art clubs, excursions, holiday and seasonal celebrations, and varied learning curricula in topics such as physiology, history, the Bible, astronomy, theatre, carpentry, baking, languages and more.

Beit Elisha is located at the heart of the Kibbutz Harduf and our members take an active part in the kibbutz's social and cultural life. The Kamah Association sees Beit Elisha as a community within a community, and believes that people with developmental disabilities have the capacity to contribute to the community as much as they are assisted by it. Living in an empowering environment designed for their needs, members of Beit Elisha experience a feeling of belonging, create meaningful relationships and provide support for one another.
