Rehabilitative Community at Beit Elisha
Beit Elisha was founded in 1995 at Kibbutz Harduf as
a warm and supportive community for 50 developmentally
and physically disabled adults. Beit Elisha believes that
individuals have the right to live a rich and rewarding life in
spite of their trauma or handicap. It seeks to provide adults
with special needs with the social and vocational skills
necessary to live productively and independently as possible. The members are referred to Beit Elisha by the Department of Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Labor and
Welfare.
The program includes vocational training, therapies and a rich cultural life. Members receive individua
l and creative therapies utilizing art, dance and movement, as well as therapeutic horseback riding and
massage therapy. The Beit Elisha members take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic enrichment
activities. On holidays and festivals, they present their work before audiences of parents, members and
the kibbutz community.
